I sometimes wonder how Jesus got through betrayal. How He went through life misunderstood by so many that he was even trying to help. Scorned. Yet, He was perfect and knew no sin, but He was accused as if He did. Parallel to our human experiences, it makes me feel better about being misunderstood, and even betrayed because if Jesus went through it, who are we to think it's above us? Though it is uncomfortable and hurtful, for me solace comes from first knowing that even Jesus (perfect as He was) endured betrayal and has given us the tools so that we can as well. Second, even in betrayal, God's plans for us are still sovereign, and He can work it all out for our good.
Looking to the Cross and ahead is helpful in forgetting the former. Hebrew 12:2, says it so beautifully, "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." So good! Because of the joy to come, Jesus was able to endure the cross! That gives me the insight to say, pain is temporal.
He can bring you through and out of anything. This is a reminder to only look back to see how far you've come. I promise joy comes in the morning.
